Aspiring Los Angeles Artist

In the celebration of Afro heritage month I researched African American history and was intrigued by stories of slave dwellings that also served as torture houses. And abolitionist & freedmen weaving coded direction maps to guide escaping slaves north out of the south. Most likely inspired by the art of African textile weaving. An cultural African craft that originated on the Continent of Africa hundreds of years before African people even arrived in America.

The stories inspired me to create conceptual artwork using my skills as a fine woodcraft artist. The artwork was displayed in a Los Angeles art show aptly named The Emancipation Art Exhibit of which I helped curate, promote, and organize.
