So you’re looking for Photos, Video Footage and Editorial from 2007 BET Awards? Well, on an urban site such as ours, which caters to Black Americans with premium Photo and Video content that is relevant to their lifestyle specifically, you won’t find much if any at all. Why is that?
Well, the people over at BET/Viacom didn’t see it in their hearts to allow us to cover their Red Carpet. Apparently they had capacity issues and there was no room left for a website as original and of the quality ours is. I understand they had to make room for all of the other radio stations, TV networks and magazines that will cover the event. But how do you say no to a site that delivers to their audience directly? Do they think that members of MochaCity.com don’t want to see the show’s host comedian Monique, Ne-Yo, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Robin Thicke, Ciara, Mary J. Blige, Akon and all of the others that will attend?
A few of the members on MochaCity.com which is my website seem to think they said no because they see us as competition. I guess I can understand that. We are growing fast. We are providing content to blacks in every facet from original video shows, red carpet coverage and event photo galleries to streaming radio and more. However, we are an urban/black media outlet, plain and simple. To deny us is to deny blacks in general. We reach over 100k African Americans ever month. Is BET saying they have to go to E! Entertainment for coverage… or maybe Yahoo!’s Entertainment section?
It’s no mystery why black owned media companies are far and few in between when we aren’t granted access to the events that are relevant to our people, simply to make room for larger media conglomerates who have more content than they know what to do with.
The funny thing is that we were actually granted access to the media pit for the 2007 Oscars and several movie premieres including Eddie Murphy’s ‘Norbit’. I guess we should just be thankful for that right?
